This weekend I had a friend come over who is interested in starting his own podcast. So, I let him check out the studio that I have created for myself and see what his idea was for his podcast. He has worked as a political writer for new papers in Juno, Ak and another one in Arizona. We kinda just recorded the show so I could show him what it takes to make a podcast. I also had my own motives as I have yet to have the opportunity to do a successful recording using my Cubase environment. I had learned a couple of things by reverse engineering an interview that Mike had set up a couple of weeks ago. Which I am doing, not because I feel like Mike is going to bail on me too. More because I have learned in this life that you can only rely on yourself to get shit done. The ones who act like they are in your corner are only there when it is convenient for them, nothing more. I can’t blame them for either as I (and you) do the same thing. So, if you want something to get off your ass and take it. It’s up to you to make it happen. Not even your mother will give a fuck at the end of the day. So, take what you want because no one is giving it away anytime soon. Peace.

AL024 || Circling Back, Exploring the Darkness

These Logs have begun to transform into something I was expecting. Tonight, I go on another rant and speak to creativity and where I tend to pull from to create the things I do create. I went back and read my original blog post. Which put into perspective how far I have come with the Garden of The Mind. For inspiration to record I went back and read my first blog post I wrote and put out into the interwebs. It was titled Ploughing the Field and it reminded me of why I begun to just start making thing. Start making things and stop caring how good they were. Then I wrapped it all up by reading a poem a friend of mine wrote recently to express the emotions she was feeling at the time. Which is how also how a lot of creativity is spawned. We take the negative emotions, the hurt, the pain, the bad and transmute them into positive creations.

I have been thinking a lot about how creativity is supplemented by three things that tend to get overlooked. I kind of go on a ramble about these three pillars that I have identified for myself to be necessary to show up and be my optimal self. I have learned that when my optimal self is given its opportunity to shine it creates things a lot more smoothly and with less effort. These three things that I am focused on improving right now in my life right now are Structure, Discipline, and Health. Today, I had the day to myself. With minimal interruptions, I was able to get a lot of things done that I have been planning on completing for some time now. Mainly a blog post that I have working on for a few months now. I started it right before I got my equipment to begin recording for the Garden of The Mind. Which ultimately distracted me from finishing it. However, I able happy for that type of distraction and I believe it turned out better than it would have had I finished it in January when I had planned on completing it. The blog post can be found on my website Solykos dot com on the page titled Sprouts. I called them my sprouts because, once I get a good flow going, I will use them to help grow the Garden of The Mind. Then I finish the holiday by working in my garden outback and record myself reading the story portion of the blog post I finish writing this morning. All in all, I would say it was a productive day for the Garden of The Mind inside Solykos Studios.

This past Saturday I had a good friend of mine, come over for a nice meal and some whiskey. We decided to setup the Garden of the Mind Lounge for the first time and hit record. I mainly just wanted to test my audio set-up. However, I knew me and Bird would have a great conversation, because we always do. Just two like minded wolves on a journey through the woods we call life. It was a good test; I can already see how I can improve some things for when we get to have these Conversations to Cultivate a Growth Mindset.

Today you get two episodes, as I had run into a few technical difficulties while attempting to create and episode while on vacation last weekend. Then it became more about my perfectionism and not wanting to release aLog with poor audio quality. So, I cleaned things up this weekend while making this episode. Which is more of aLog from the past two weeks, and me just trying to get back into the swing of things. This week I talk a little about Solykos and what the Mountain logo I created for it means. We return this week reenergized and ready to get the seeds sown. Taking the weekend off last week to till the soil really proved to be a great way to stimulate new ideas. It cleared some space for us to focus and really get the foundation for The Audios Logs completed and added some more of Mike’s sweet-sounding production value to the intro and outro. Helped to bring just another layer of professional wizardry that he adds to the pack. Kyle and myself have been able to become adaptable with our meetings. It has been good practice for when will have to start weaving the vines of conversations in The Garden of The Mind: Conversations to Cultivate a Growth Mindset. While the most difficult part, as in any organization large or small, has been getting all three of our schedules to sync up to record. However, where we are in the stage of producing this show that isn’t as important as it will be once The Garden takes root. That being said all of us still seem to be finding the time to consistently water our own gardens and bring new ideas to the table on a daily basis.
