I haven’t been putting much thought into these Audio Logs, mainly because I have moved on to bigger and better things in my life. However, as I have said, I need my repetitions and will continue to produce these logs. While they have become more of a therapy season for me. These Audios log have truthfully become my therapy sessions and tonight I had no clue what I was going to talk about. However, I have made a promise to myself that I will make at the very least one episode a week. Now that I have learned what I needed to learn to create the podcast that I want to create I really do not need this podcast for anything other than having fun. With that being said I will continue to make these until I find that they have run their course. For now, though they are serving me a purpose to really get my thoughts out there. Make them tangible. Make them more than feelings. Make them something that I can look back on and say “Yeah that what got me going.” We have, and I myself have come a long way since we started working on this podcast. This morning I decided to make a podcast instead of laying in bed and attempting to sleep. As sleep has decide it does not want anything to do with me right now. I would speculate that it is because I have a lot on my mind. A lot of good. A lot of bad. Thoughts that won’t go away no matter what I tell them to do. No matter how much I re-frame them. So instead of lying in bed wallowing in my self-pity, I decided to get some chores done. While doing them I had the urge to just get in front of the mic and talk. Get it out of my head, so that I can move on. It’s like I keep telling people, I am too busy to be depressed anymore. I have created too many things to keep me moving forward to sit there and paralyze myself with my thoughts. Mike and I got together today and had a very productive day in the studio. We started to get into finalizing our infrastructure so that we can maximize both our studios. Now we have the environment set up to start focusing on streamlining production between both our home studios. Then we had some time left over and decide to test out a duel recording set-up for when we get into recording episodes for The Garden of The Mind. It was a great test run that we turned into today’s Audio Log. I hope you enjoy the chat we had about how far we have come and where we are planning to keep on trucking.

This weekend I had a friend come over who is interested in starting his own podcast. So, I let him check out the studio that I have created for myself and see what his idea was for his podcast. He has worked as a political writer for new papers in Juno, Ak and another one in Arizona. We kinda just recorded the show so I could show him what it takes to make a podcast. I also had my own motives as I have yet to have the opportunity to do a successful recording using my Cubase environment. I had learned a couple of things by reverse engineering an interview that Mike had set up a couple of weeks ago. Which I am doing, not because I feel like Mike is going to bail on me too. More because I have learned in this life that you can only rely on yourself to get shit done. The ones who act like they are in your corner are only there when it is convenient for them, nothing more. I can’t blame them for either as I (and you) do the same thing. So, if you want something to get off your ass and take it. It’s up to you to make it happen. Not even your mother will give a fuck at the end of the day. So, take what you want because no one is giving it away anytime soon. Peace.

AL024 || Circling Back, Exploring the Darkness

These Logs have begun to transform into something I was expecting. Tonight, I go on another rant and speak to creativity and where I tend to pull from to create the things I do create. I went back and read my original blog post. Which put into perspective how far I have come with the Garden of The Mind. For inspiration to record I went back and read my first blog post I wrote and put out into the interwebs. It was titled Ploughing the Field and it reminded me of why I begun to just start making thing. Start making things and stop caring how good they were. Then I wrapped it all up by reading a poem a friend of mine wrote recently to express the emotions she was feeling at the time. Which is how also how a lot of creativity is spawned. We take the negative emotions, the hurt, the pain, the bad and transmute them into positive creations.

I have been thinking a lot about how creativity is supplemented by three things that tend to get overlooked. I kind of go on a ramble about these three pillars that I have identified for myself to be necessary to show up and be my optimal self. I have learned that when my optimal self is given its opportunity to shine it creates things a lot more smoothly and with less effort. These three things that I am focused on improving right now in my life right now are Structure, Discipline, and Health. AL020 || The Lost Children and Lazy Excuses

Today I took a trip down some country roads and found a river. Marley and I had a great time and, on the way, back I listened to Hilltop Hoods newest album. Their song, Fire & Grace really hit home for me when it came on, due to what has been on my mind lately. With that, my elements of water and fire met this afternoon and I blew off a bit of steam. Admittedly, I sound kind of angry here, but I still feel my points are valid. I go on a few rants, about how when you work hard to acquire skills for anything. How most people use complements to discredit your hard work and sacrifices that it took you to gain the skills by saying things, “You’re just a natural, you got blessed with a god-given talent. I could never do that.” Although what they are really doing is giving themselves an excuse to be lazy and not follow their passions. Also, I left in a few things where I was taking my steam out on my studio. Mainly because when I was editing it, I found my stupid outburst hilarious. And with that, I hope you get some kind of take away from this, because this one was mainly, just therapy for ya boy, enjoy.
All in all, I would say it was a productive day for the Garden of The Mind inside Solykos Studios.

Today, I had the day to myself. With minimal interruptions, I was able to get a lot of things done that I have been planning on completing for some time now. Mainly a blog post that I have working on for a few months now. I started it right before I got my equipment to begin recording for the Garden of The Mind. Which ultimately distracted me from finishing it. However, I able happy for that type of distraction and I believe it turned out better than it would have had I finished it in January when I had planned on completing it. The blog post can be found on my website Solykos dot com on the page titled Sprouts. I called them my sprouts because, once I get a good flow going, I will use them to help grow the Garden of The Mind. Then I finish the holiday by working in my garden outback and record myself reading the story portion of the blog post I finish writing this morning. All in all, I would say it was a productive day for the Garden of The Mind inside Solykos Studios.

This past Saturday I had a good friend of mine, come over for a nice meal and some whiskey. We decided to setup the Garden of the Mind Lounge for the first time and hit record. I mainly just wanted to test my audio set-up. However, I knew me and Bird would have a great conversation, because we always do. Just two like minded wolves on a journey through the woods we call life. It was a good test; I can already see how I can improve some things for when we get to have these Conversations to Cultivate a Growth Mindset.

AL014 || Changing Direction

I had some inspiration to try something different, and I attempted to do it this week. However, it did not go as plan but I believe I got some good content from it. I greatly under estimated how long it would take me to do it and. I started to late into the night. Really, I just need to stay steadfast and not worry about how quick the Garden is growing. Just begin to enjoy its blooms and the opportunity it has given me to play in the dirt. Also, I touch a little bit more on the mountain metaphor, because it has come time to climb the mountain now that it has momentum. That is the beginning of the hard work.

Today you get two episodes, as I had run into a few technical difficulties while attempting to create and episode while on vacation last weekend. Then it became more about my perfectionism and not wanting to release aLog with poor audio quality. So, I cleaned things up this weekend while making this episode.
